My name is Opalin Hubay Pickens. I'm nonbinary (he/she/they) and Pagan, and as of April 27, 2025, I'm an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. As such, I'm legally able to marry people in the state of California.
What led to my decision to become ordained was a variety of things, one of which was the observation that the world has grown increasingly intolerant towards diversity. I wanted to correct this, even if in a minor way, by making a point of marrying couples from all backgrounds and celebrating the diverse forms that love can take, and showing others that, ultimately, love is love. And that love, no matter its form, is not wrong.
